• 1. How long will the procedure take?

The whole procedure can be performed within a few hours to even a whole day, which depends on the hair graft size needed to treat the hair loss area. All patients have different situations with varied health issues, which our surgeon will discuss prior to determining the best approach for you.

  • 2. Will I have to stay overnight?

It is a day care procedure generally and one can go back home the same day of the procedure.

  • 3. Will I need another procedure?

It is always possible that your hair may not grow as much as you want it to grow, usually in small areas – in this case we can offer a second procedure but usually the results are positive.

  • 4. How many grafts will I need?

The number of hair grafts depends on the hair loss area, which ranges from few hundreds to thousands. Furthermore, it also depends on the donor hair and how much is available to graft from.

  • 5. Where will the hair be taken from?

The hairs are taken from the donor area, ie. from back of the head or side of the head from above the ears, but it does depends on amount of donor hair and what hair looks like.

  • 6. What anesthetic will be used?

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. We usually recommend mild painkillers after surgery to limit the pain during the recovery time.

  • 7. Can you explain what the FUT procedure is?

FUT also known as “Strip Procedure” has been considered to be the most traditional and reliable approach, where our surgeon takes a bulk of your hair prior to suturing it up the wound. It is followed by dissection into smaller grafts by the highly skilled technicians, which are then transplanted into the target area.

  • 8. Can you explain what the FUE procedure is?

The procedure of FUE involves collecting hair follicles from the back of the head with the help of a punching device especially designed, which expertly transplants hair follicles into affected hair loss area. The method of follicle extraction and donor site differs from that of the FUT procedure.

  • 9. Will my hair be as thick as it is now?

The main aim of the procedure is to achieve a natural appearance with a density increase of hair follicles. We cannot guarantee the same number of grafts to be transplanted which are being lost.

  • 10. How will I look after the procedure?

The recommendation for how you look after your hair differs from person to person, but we do advise to avoid touching your hair or washing for atleast 48hr after your surgery.

  • 11. When can I go back to work?

It is advised and wise to take off work for 1 week post surgery to help protecting the hair follicles for a better recovery.

  • 13. When will I see the final results?

The results usually take around a year to appear. Hair follicles take around 4 months to grow where a clearly visible hairline is noticeable for 6 months and from the 12 months, one can see a significant density of hair.

  • 14. What will the scar be like?

With FUT we expect the scar to appear as a fine line or with a minor stretchmark. It can vary from 1mm thickness to a few mm wide.

  • 15. Will the procedure be painful?

The whole procedure is performed under local anesthesia. One can expect to experience some amount of discomfort and pain during the surgery.
