Hair Transplantation- Good and Bad

Hair transplantation is being a popular method of fast revival of one’s lost hair and the growth rate of natural hair. Most of the hair transplantation techniques and methods of today’s world are well equipped and the methods generally produce the best desired result for successfully restoring the natural hair.

Hair loss problem is one of the major concerns for millions of people. The individuals are suffering from either baldness or signs of baldness or continuously receding hairline or consistent thinning of hair. Most of the methods of hair transplantation have been designed in such a way that they are likely to bring instant and successful results in bringing back the natural hair on the bald portions of the scalp.

Hair transplantation is the surgical method of transplanting hair follicles from one part of the body to other parts. The parts of the body, from where the hair follicles are taken are called donor sites and the parts, where these follicles are transplanted are called recipient sites. The surgical treatment is mainly applied to cure the baldness of men. The specific factor of the surgery is that, only the grafts of the hair in the donor site where the hair follicles are inherently resistant to balding are chosen for the purpose of hair transplantation.

The two most popular methods of hair transplantations are Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). The former is more traditional method, whereas the latter is more recent. The other not so popular method of hair transplantation is Scalp Reduction.

FUT is mainly useful for extreme or more than average balding cases. This surgery is involved with transplanting a huge number of grafts from donor to the recipient site. A linear scar will be there after the surgery that will take much time to heal. FUE, on the other hand, is more preferred method where the transplantation procedure follows the way of our actual growth of hair.

Moreover, it does not cause any major cut or visible scar that will take time to heal. But if the hair density of the person is thin even in the baldness resistant part of the scalp, the patient cannot go for this type of transplantation.

Scalp reduction is the least popular procedure of hair transplantation among the three. It involves the removal of the whole bald scalp with a scalp rich with hair follicles. But this method often causes tightening of the scalp, which may result in thinning of hairs within few years.
